Protect Young Drivers was featured at the Hampshire Road Safety Summit, as partners from across the region came together to strengthen collaboration and accelerate action on road safety.

The summit was hosted by Donna Jones and Hampshire Constabulary bringing together representatives from policing, fire and rescue, highways, local authorities and wider road safety partners from across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

The event provided an opportunity to highlight the continued growth of Protect Young Drivers and its focus on safeguarding young drivers and their passengers through partnership, evidence and collective action.

Speaking after the summit, Rebecca Morris, Engagement Director at Protect Young Drivers, said:

“This was an excellent opportunity to bring partners together to focus on a shared goal - preventing death and serious injury on our roads. If we are serious about achieving a 65% reduction in those killed or seriously injured by 2035, as set out in the Government's Road Safety Strategy, regional leadership and collaboration will be critical. Events like this create the space for honest discussion, shared learning and meaningful action.”

The summit underscored the importance of coordinated work at local, regional and national levels if the Government’s ambitious road safety targets are to be met.
