Support for Protect Young Drivers continues to grow, with organisations, professionals and campaigners from across the road safety community joining the movement.

What began as a simple website explaining the risks facing newly qualified drivers has quickly evolved into a wider coalition bringing together partners who share the same ambition - reducing the number of young drivers involved in road crashes.

The Protect Young Drivers website now lists a growing number of supporters, including national road safety organisations, police and crime commissioners, researchers, charities and bereaved families.

Organisations supporting the initiative include Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety, Road Safety GB, RAC Foundation, IAM RoadSmart, Brake, and TRL.

The initiative was created to improve understanding of the risks facing young drivers in the first months after passing their test and to encourage discussion around evidence-based ways of improving safety.

Rebecca Morris, Engagement Director at Protect Young Drivers, said:

"What started as a relatively simple website has quickly grown into something much bigger. People clearly want to be part of this. There is a real appetite across the road safety community to work together to better protect young drivers, their passengers and all road users."

Supporters also include leading experts such as Dr Elizabeth Box, Dr Shaun Helman, Dr Neale Kinnear, Dr Ian Greenwood and several police and crime commissioners including Joy Allen and Philip Seccombe.

As the Protect Young Drivers network continues to grow, partners hope the collective voice of the campaign will help strengthen understanding of young driver risk and contribute to discussions about how young drivers can gain experience on the road more safely.
