A coach in Cumbria has been liveried to show support for Caitlin’s Campaign and the push for stronger protections for newly qualified drivers.
The rear of the vehicle features the Protect Young Drivers logo alongside an image of Caitlin Huddleston, helping raise awareness of the campaign and the need to better protect young drivers and their passengers.
Caitlin, from Cumbria, was killed in a road crash on a rural road in the county in July 2017. The 18-year-old was travelling as a passenger in a car driven by a friend who had passed her driving test just four months earlier.
Both young women died in the collision, while another passenger travelling in the back of the car and the driver of an oncoming van were seriously injured. The crash was attributed to the inexperience of the newly qualified driver.
The coach is operated by Irving of Dalston and the initiative has been led by Craig Irving, who recently retired as a forensic collision investigator with Cumbria Constabulary. Craig worked directly with Sharron Huddleston, Caitlin's Mum, to develop the campaign message displayed on the vehicle.
